CAD Technician / Detailer


The main purpose of the role would be:

1.Producing steel and cladding CAD detailed drawings for workshop & site
2.Project planning and programmes
3.Project Management duties
4.CE Marking documentation


CAD Detailing/Planning Activities:

  • Produce steel & cladding detailed CAD drawings
  • Produce DXF and NC files for workshop processing of steel
  • Produce cutting lists
  • Nest plasma programming
  • Issue drawing packs to workshop and site
  • Upkeep of drawing office procedures including storage of engineering documents
  • Organise material requirements and procure
  • Liaise with clients, suppliers and professionals (architects, engineers etc)
  • Assist with adherence and auditing for CE Marking for steel (EN1090)
  • Mentor and train new staff and trainees, acting as an ambassador for the industry

Project Management:

  • Work with external CAD Detailer(s) to ensure drawings are accurate, coordinated, and timely
  • Tendering support – client liaison and meetings
  • Support QS with project valuations (help price smaller jobs)
  • Carry out site surveys
  • Liaise with Managers and Supervisors throughout project to ensure deadlines met and changes/extras captured
  • Manage and re-negotiate timescales or schedules as necessary
  • Contribute to resource and plant management through creation of programmes (liaising with others as required)
  • Create RAMS and ensure safety standards met

General Duties:

  • Continually assess and streamline processes, systems, and documentation
  • Work with Directors to research and develop services, making suggestions and acting for improvements
  • Motivate, encourage, and inspire team to be stronger and more efficient
  • Sales focussed to ensure full capacity is achieved throughout the Group
  • Attend and participate in operations and other team meetings
  • Contribute to the general running and development of the business
  • Attend and participate in Operations meetings and other meetings where necessary
  • Any other duties deemed necessary for the business that play to your strengths



  • Qualification in Autodesk Advance Steel
  • Fabrication experience
  • Knowledge in CE Marking, and Safety Standards/ RAMS


  • Qualification in AutoCAD
  • Working experience in AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of the Construction Industry
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
